I’ve been working out with Em now over 7 years hunting fitness and weight loss and have learnt quite a bit about myself during this time. Starting out with PT (one on one for my daughter and I) doing mainly weight sessions for the first 5 years on and off. What I’ve learnt since February this year is that no matter what exercise you do if it’s not combined with a calculated diet plan my weight would “yo-yo” forcing me into fad fasting/diets that were not sustainable and led to blow outs with no plan at all.....and the other bad habit most of us have.....alcohol.
Over the last 7 years my weight and fitness levels have fluctuated. At my lowest I was approximately 102kg’s to my heaviest at 123kg’s. In February this year I committed to my first of Em’s 10 week challenges and I’d set myself a goal to get back to 102 kg’s by Xmas this year (2020). This first challenge saw me lose just under 5kg’s which was a good start and taught me a lot more about the combination of food and exercise.... everything in moderation. While I still had bad habits my 10 weeks was not totally compliant so my 5kg loss was a good result. My body shape had started to change which motivated me as most people would feel as others start noticing your shape change.
I COVID hot during this time so I committed to Challenge #2 for me which saw my weight take another dive ending at 110.8kg which was another 4-5kg weight loss during the 10 weeks. Again I had blow out days and a few alcoholic binges (hahaha) but learning to combine exercise, lifestyle and food intake. The other major factor which I’ve introduced is walking in the morning. I complete at least, but generally a 7km walk each morning on route to my local coffee shop which is not only good for weight loss but therapeutic and mindful. I don’t see walking as exercise now I see it as a part of my morning and the way I start the day. It’s a lifestyle. My commitment to 10,000 steps per day (up from last year at 6,000 per day) is contributing to my overall result.
Now deep into my 3rd challenge and in September 2020 I can’t believe how quickly the years gone. My weight is in the 106’s kg’s heading to my goal which I would not have been able to achieve without Em’s framework, coaching and guidance.
Em has built a community of people looking for what I’m achieving which is overall better mental health, weight loss and how to find “your” balance and your goal while maintaining a bit of fun (actually I now don’t feel like I’m missing out).
I recommend Em to anyone. Particularly guys. Please can another bloke join this group? I’m the only male amongst 52 females.
Em you have pivoted your business to online and I feel you have stepped up as a coach and leader during COVID to help many people lead a healthier happier life. I’m honoured to be asked to write this for you to help share my experiences during my time with you.
